Speaking and Writing

On estrangement, chronic illness, religious trauma, narrative identity, and clinical AI ethics.

Speaking

I speak on family estrangement, narrative identity, chronic illness and the self, religious trauma, and the clinical and ethical dimensions of AI in mental health contexts. My background is in clinical practice, behavioral science, and the lived experience of chronic illness, and I work to make complex material accessible without flattening it.

Available for webinars, library and community events, professional trainings, conference panels, and podcasts. For speaking inquiries, reach out directly at s.cook@willowandteak.com.

Beyond the Great Unfurl

Most parenting books stop before the hardest part. This one starts there -- with the question of how you build a real, lasting relationship with the adult your child is becoming. Rooted in narrative therapy, it offers parents a framework for laying the foundation early: the stories, patterns, and relational habits that will either invite your grown child toward you or quietly push them away.

For parents who want to still be invited into the room when it matters most.

Currently in progress. Expected Autumn 2026
